I'm not that familiar with the manga/anime, so the way the girls were speaking had me confused for awhile. Are the two princesses supposed to be from some foreign country, and are not that good at speaking the guy's language? o.O
In any case, the girls were cute. Thanks biribiri and anonymous.
How odd. I decided to check out the first couple chapters of the manga, and I watched some of the first episode of the anime. In the manga, she talks fairly normal, but she also slips into a different language at times: http://www.mangahere.co/manga/hitsugime_no_chaika…
So, she *is* supposed to be from a different place than the main character, and her native language is different from the language she uses when talking to him. The anime though doesn't seem to explain that, it just has her talking weird. o.O
Yep, in anime she definitely only speaks Japanese. Though it's not surprising, since it would mean they had to come up with "sounds" for words for that to happen. And all the doujins I saw to date never used the different language thing even once. The anime was actually quite good, btw.
Also, the fact she speaks fairly normal in manga can be result of scanlation. It's hard to decide on making character's speech impaired or guessing author's intentions, so it may be the case of the group in charge making different decisions.
Also, granted, people of all the countries in the anime speak the same language (and there are few countries). The thing with Chaikas being from a foreign country doesn't cut it either – the story is much deeper~
Hmm. It looks like this might be another case where the anime and manga have somewhat different versions of the story. I've already decided based on what I have read and watched that I do want to read and watch more. I'll probably read the rest of the manga (what has been translated so far) first, then watch the anime and see what changes were made.
It's a light novel series so as always the anime and manga are just adaptations of the source made by different people which usually leads to differences like that.

Chaikas have speech impairment, not really a matter if "different language". It was actually challenging to mimic that
