[Kaworu Watashiya] Kodomo no Jikan Vol.9 Ch.64.5
Kuro tried to bite off more that she could chew.
So, we’re releasing a really short chapter (can we even call it that?) from volume 9 of Kodomo no Jikan that SaHa neglected. It was sponsored by anonymous, so you should thank him!! The story happens somewhere in the middle of chapter 64 (that’s why I titled it chapter 64.5) and it should end volume 9.
PS: Before you ask – we’re not planning to butt in with that series, it’s a one-time release.
Brought to you by anonymous.

Regardless of some trying to play politics, I am indebted to biribiri for the chapter. LAH posted it probably minutes after you offered it here. I came here for the original! I mean, dear God, I love Rin, Mimi and especially Kuro (that one is obvious!).
Don't beat yourself too much 😉
SaHa finally did the tank, but I'm glad you did Ch. 64.5. It's always fascinating to see two different translators take on the same work. If nothing else than to see how each interprets a certain line or scene.
It also helped confirm whether an uncredited work is actually a translation or a rewrite posing as one. Minimimi ch.6 comes to mind here, they're too close to be a rewrite, but they're not an exact match.
I don't want anyone using me as their vendetta against anyone, just to be clear.
I decided to do that chapter since I couldn't find SaHa's version and seeing how he's in 11th volume already, I figured he's not gonna do it. As a fan of the series, I thought that it's worth to work on this one short chapter, expecting that SaHa may just release his own version some other day.
@Dr. Anon
Well, my certain source of cultural information is kinda out of reach, so if I had to wait for his replies each time, I'd end up releasing a chapter per month or even worse. I never claimed I'm an authority in anything either , I make mistakes – hell, sometimes they cause me headache, but I always do all I can to deliver the best possible quality and I still learn new things with each day, like about sekihan this time. I believe that shichi go san or weddings are more important for Japanese than first period though and that's where I'd expect to see sekihan. I also have my own way of translating that may be very different from others.
@Hoyeru
Here's the thing: the red rice joke is incomprehensible to us stupid foreigners (as the translation note exemplifies, no offense biribiri). Translating it literally adds nothing to the joke outside of forcing people who aren't obscenely familiar with the culture to read an unnecessary translation note. In context, the joke was obviously about not getting pregnant before her first period. Not translating idioms literally is simply a stylistic choice, not a mistranslation.
Since you obviously have some sort of vendetta against him, it's no surprise that Sayo IP banned you.
to Hikaru Yami:
I am the anon who paid for this. Sorry to start up an argument here but Sayo DOES and MISS and NEGLECTS things ALL the time. His translations are barely passable. I have posted numerous times on his site pointing this out and he has the habit of banning my IP so I wont be able to post.
Case in example: even in this latest translation, he simply omitted the Sekihang remark entirely, instead translating it as: "Maybe after you start having your first period." totally changing the meaning and the joke. The correct line mentions Sekihan and eating it. Let's face it SaHA sux as a translator. He doesnt translate whole sentences when they are outside of word balloons and I always suspected his translations were not accurate. That is why I wanted to get a second translation to compare the two. yes, I did it on purpose. The Sekihan joke mistranslated by SaHA is the proof I was seeking. Case closed.
Further proof that KnJ will land you in buttrape prison if imported.
Thank you for this pick-me-up, anonymous and biribiri…
Seeing that face in the OP picture was enough to take away the pain in my back…
Now to feast upon the rest~
Sayo never neglects things ~.~“ He always releases the full tankoubon with extras *eventually*. I dunno if he did it just to rub it in your faces, but the time he picked to release all of volume 9 was "now". Whoops, anonymous paid for a silly thing (though maybe anonymous will like your work better than Sayo's, who knows. I personally have no interest in passing judgment on whose work is better, but this contributor should know for the future that Sayo will release full tankoubons as long as he is doing kojika.
Many thanx BB and Anon.
@biri
I had no idea they served it for birthdays and weddings… I've only heard it mentioned in regards to the first period.
…
I think I'm going to sit in the corner and reflect on my reading material choices.
maybe whoever is paying for it didn't commission that one
@Anon
To be honest, I have no idea if they serve it to celebrate a girl's first period. I mentioned only few of so called "special occasions". Thanks for pointing that out though, I'll be sure to remember that in the future.
Wat.
Thanks for the chapter!
Your note on the first page only mentions the red rice is served on birthdays and weddings. You completely neglected to say that it's also served to celebrate a girl's first period, which is far more in context with the comment Rin makes about possibly getting pregnant from the stain.
Was surprised by this, lol. A pleasant surprise, nonetheless.
Thanks for the release! 😀
